Sincerely Sawyer Pattern: George & Ginger Pattern Co

Hello. hello! Thanks so much for stopping by! George & Ginger Pattern Company & Sincerely Rylee Fabrics have teamed up again and the result is perfection! This new sweater is super cute and perfect for sweater knit…which happens to be something that Sincerely Rylee does perfectly. Stay tuned until the end, as there is a trick to get this pattern free!

About the Fabric:

I have a confession to make. I have never ordered from Sincerely Rylee. I have been stalking the Sincerely Rylee facebook group forever now, but I never timed my stalking to coincide with my fabric budget actually having money in it. I was thrilled when I joined the testing group for the shirt to find that Darcey was offering a bundle deal to those of us who were testing! For once, I had money in my budget at the perfect time! It was incredible! If you’ve ever received a fabric box from Darcey, you know how fun it is. I received 4 different cuts/types of sweater knits and immediately set to work, cutting my second sweater out of the French terry fabric shown in the last photo.

23825933_10155484321657935_9146249048043241611_oThese fabrics y’all….I don’t even know that there are words, which is why I attached pictures. They are lush and dreamy, soft and sweet. Perfection in fabric form. I’m not usually a sweater knit person, but that is because the gauntlet of my sweater knit experience usually runs from Walmart to Joanns. There is nothing like sweater knit from an upscale fabric seller. Nothing. But we aren’t here SOLELY for the fabric…so I’ll get on with it. 🙂

About the sweater

sincerely sawyer

This sweater is one of the most adorable things I’ve seen so far this fall/winter. I love the sleeve detail. And the pattern is written so that it would be easy enough to switch it up and do no ties at all or ties on both shoulders, if you so choose (I think I’m going to try both at some point!) I’ve used ribbon for a tie, as well as fabric, and they both work as well as the other. Another option for the tie would be to use bias tape. But enough of me bumbling over my words. Here is what Kristi has to say about the Sincerely Sawyer pattern:

The Sincerely Sawyer Pattern

Designed exclusively for Sincerely Rylee Fabrics, this classic sweater features a sweet sleeve cutout and delicate tie for a unique look!  With 3/4 length banded sleeves and flattering banded hem, this pattern is a quick sew with gorgeous results!

Suggested fabric for this sweater is a 2-way sweater knit fabric with drape and at least 50% stretch.  Any fabric, including woven, can be used for the ties.

Here is my final version, made in the Sincerely Rylee fabric (above). This sweater is soft and loose, yet still has unique details that make it perfect. I love that it’s fitted enough to not be frumpy, yet it’s still a looser fit. I’m also a big fan of the waistband and arm bands. I love that they make it so you can wear the sweater multiple ways. It’s “supposed to” be worn up around your hips and loose, but can absolutely be pulled down to cover your bum on a leggings day. 🙂

I rarely include testing photos, as they aren’t very flattering (read: old carpet, AC unit in the back and an outfit that doesn’t match…at all. haha)…but I was so in love with this sweater from the moment I put it on. Even made from this super thin, scratchy knit, I’m finding ways to wear it. (over a thin tank works perfectly!) For this version, I simply used a piece of wide ribbon as the tie. Here are the other “pretty” photos to balance things out:

This pattern is an anniversary present to all of you from Kristi Fitzpatrick of George & Ginger Pattern Company. The shop just turned 2 AND she just passed 20,000 group members on Facebook, so there are a ton of fun things happening right now, like a huge sale. Because this is a gift, you can get it for FREE! You just need to join the Sincerely Rylee Facebook group and look for the post with half of the code, then join the George and Ginger Facebook group and look for the other half of the code. Take both the halves to the GG website and input them to get the pattern completely free! How exciting is that?
