Sunday Lately is a weekly linkup hosted by the Blogger Tribe, which is fearlessly led by Angelica (Gardening in High Heels) and Katy McKinley (Wild & Wanderful). We e-hangout every Sunday, sharing a small glimpse into the past week of life in our own worlds. We’d love if you could join us!
This week’s themes: Driving, Hugging, Hearing, Obsessing, Biting
We intended to take the Thanksgiving vacation and make the trek down to North Carolina and spend it with my mother in law, but at the last moment, everyone backed out and decided they didn’t want her to have to cook for us all. So it looks like we will be staying in, which is great by me. I’m not a huge fan of long trips with 4 kids in the car, although they usually end up being more fun than I think they will be. I was looking forward to seeing family, but we will see them all shortly for Christmas, so it isn’t too big of a drag. My toddler is driving me crazy this week, if it counts? She’s been sick for awhile now and has decided that I am supposed to be holding or nursing her 24/7. After about a week of this, my nerves are shot and she isn’t much better. I hate when they’re sick. 🙁 So much the better we aren’t making that trip, I suppose.
I’m spending the week hugging on my hubby, since he bought me my #1 wishlist item as an early Christmas present! It’s a Nikon D5600 and I’m in love with the quality of photos I can get. It makes a world of difference and has sparked a drive to create things much more because now I know I won’t have to spend hours upon hours editing photos. It’s safe to say I’m in LOVE. 🙂 I have a Thankful blog tour coming up and am trying to find something to make for him to show him how much I appreciate all that he does. If you have any great manly gift ideas that involve sewing, could you drop the suggestion in the comments, please?
Kids crying (see #1) lol. I’ve also heard a lot of Christmas songs playing lately. Perhaps it’s because I’ve been shopping more than usual. I’m usually a strict observer of the whole “No Christmas until AFTER Thanksgiving” deal, but I’ll admit that the sound of those songs is getting me more than a little excited for the holiday season to come. 🙂
I received my November box of strike offs from Aurora Design Fabrics (one of the perks of working for a fabric designer is that I quite literally get paid in fabric. It’s a beautiful thing!) and am obsessing over her new custom rounds. But even more than the astronauts, sea animals and glitter prints….I’m head over heels for the yard of Navy Rayon French Terry I received. I’ve never worked with it before but it is just as lush as it sounds. It has a lovely weight and drape and is sooooo soft. I can’t wait to make myself something from it….if I can bring myself to cut into it. haha
I just wrote an entire post last night about Christmas cookie recipes, if that is any indication of the things I’m putting into my mouth. Here comes the holiday season! I love that during the holidays, there is almost always something lying around that looks appetizing. I’ll be cooking Thanksgiving dinner for my family this year and I intend to start working on batches of cookies soon as well. I’m super excited to get started!
That’s my week, Blogger Tribe style. Hope you enjoyed it! Thanks so much for stopping by! Be sure to check out the other blogs if you have the time!
Until next time,
